Vintage Velvet Maxi!

cccvtg velvet maxi skirt
This Vintage Velvet Maxi, is a CCCVTG fave! When we spotted it along our last thrifting adventure, we absolutely knew we had to share it (although Jenna and Erica seriously considered keeping it for themselves!) Not only do we know for certain, that this maxi is being sold at our favorite go-to stores for almost twice (or triple!) the price, we know that a maxi like this is just essential for any and all fashionista's closets! Dress it up with some killer platforms and a leather bomber, or wear it day-today with an oversized knit, denim jacket, and walkable wedges.  Check out the many, many ways you can wear it.  We're already jealous of whoever buys it!

Knit All Over

When it begins to get cold outside, all I want to do is curl up in a fuzzy, warm sweater.

I'm obsessed with sweaters. So obsessed that I want to wear them all over my body. Since a cosby romper or jumper could possibly be tragic (maybe I'm just picturing it in the worst possible way), a cool combination of a sweater top and sweater shorts will do the trick.  Throw on a button down underneath to break up the knits and some jewelry to accessorize and voila, the most comfortable yet cute outfit EVARRR.

Keep warm, kiddies.

Item of the Week: Vintage Black & White Pleated Dress

The holiday season is finally here, and with all those parties you're invited to, finding something to wear is always a dilemma. Counter Culture is here to save you!  This adorable vintage 80s frock is the ultimate party dress! The high neckline, front pleats and mid-length skirt made for a classic and polished look, while the shoulder pads and crazy print bring out your wild side.  Pair with some platforms and a colorful, chunky necklace and boom, ready to party.

Of course, just as much as this dress can be dressed up, it can also be dressed down. Pair with a blazer and heels for a more professional look, like Erica did here, or wear with flats and a cardigan for an every day, comfortable (but cute!) outfit.

Grey On Grey

This season i've been very fond of the monochromatic look. Ideal for those hectic days of endless errands, A go to uniform is necessary for all city dwellers! Minimizing time and thought spent on what to wear in the morning, I opt to layer pieces of the same color, while incorporating pops of color and variations of fabrics to keep my look texturized and interesting, yet incredibly easy and transitional at the same time! If your pressed for time, or even feeling a bit lazy, this look is the way to go!

Velvet + Stripes

This fall, I've become obsessed with two things: velvet and the whole button down and sweater look. Today, I combined the two! I'm OBSESSED with these leggings from Urban Outfitters, the olive green color is pretty although muted, adding just the right amount of color to an otherwise neutral look. Not to mention, they're as comfortable as wearing regular leggings (but of course, a ton cuter). And who doesn't appreciate a little bit of stripes to make things interesting? I love that the stripes are subtle, just peeking out at the collar and a bit at the bottom of the sweater.

I found this necklace at a thrift store for like, $15. It's one of my favorites! Super original.

Meep. I love fall!

Item of the Week: Red Peter Pan Collared Linen Blouse

Words can not describe just how much we love this vintage Ellen Tracy blouse! This red linen number features a tie front with a super cutesy peter pan collar. The greatest thing about this blouse, aside from being adorable, is how versatile it is! It's linen, not silk, so you can get away with making it casual or dressy. Erica is pictured here wearing it with flared denim, creating a casual 70s inspired look. Going somewhere fancy? Pair this blouse with a black mini, tights and some killer pumps and you have an instant classy and dressy outfit for a night out!

Black & Gold

The combination of black and gold is one you just can't go wrong with! Whether accessorizing a black outfitt with gold pieces, or wearing rich fabrics in gold, such as this thrifted Brooks Brother's blazer im sporting below, (one of my favorite pieces), the color combination exudes luxury in the most effortless way possible. Not only will wearing these colors make you feel like a million bucks, it is the easiest way to transition from day to night! Wearing it from meetings during the day, to events and openings at night, this black and gold get up is a go to look for every young professional in the fast lane!

Sheer + Stripes

We're taking it back a bit to Fashion's Night Out to talk about one of my favorite outfits! A bit risque, but perfect for a night out on the town. I love the contrast of the bike shorts and bandeau against the sheer striped maxi dress. Since it's getting a bit chillier outside, how can we make this outfit work for the cold weather? Number one, black opaque tights instead of bike shorts. Number two, some type of sweater on top! Whether you want to pair with a oversized pullover and pair with combat boots for a grungy look or wear a simple cardigan or open button down with flats, there is so much you can do with a unique dress like this!

Item of the Week: Denim Studded Tank - Studs by Annie McCurdy

This week's Item of the Week is the work of a dear friend of ours, Annie McCurdy. Each one of her Studs by Annie McCurdy pieces are hand studded, assuring that each piece is unique. The stud trimmed collar gives this denim button down some attitude! The oversized fit makes it very versatile--you could wear it alone buttoned up or opened over a tank or body suit. We suggest pairing it with a high waisted jean, pant or skirt, tied at the waist or tucked in. Add a little punk rock to your look with this amazing piece!

Color Incorporated

I've developed some what of an addiction to button down shirts! As classic and original as they are, collecting unique button downs with variations in cut, color, and pattern has become nothing short of a sport. I personally feel one can never have too many! This button down struck me instantly as the perfect combination of multiple colors. Blending in perfectly with my neutral colored wardrobe, I'm able to mix and match this piece with virtually every item I own. Wether I'm wearing it with black skinnies and a black leather moto jacket for an edgy look, or tucking it in to dark blue denim and with a blazer for a meeting, this button down has been serving me well for practically every occasion! If you stick to neutrals as much as I do, try to incorporate some color in your wardrobe, even if it is on the darker side!

Flower Child Maxi

As a product of the 90s (I am damn proud to be born in 1990), I enjoy wearing the clothes that 20-somethings would wear back when I was, say, 4 or 5? 1994 was a good year for fashion.

That's why I love this maxi dress. That girly but gritty look of grungy floral print on an almost schoolteacherish-but-in-a-good-way dress make me swoon. Throw on a pair of wedges and boom, instant amazing outfit.

And that hat? The day I retire that hat will be the apocalypse. It's my absolute favorite and I wear it as much as I possibly can. One time it blew off my head in a windstorm and I chased it across 1st Avenue through oncoming traffic. That's true love.

Although I adore this dress to no end, it is for sale! To purchase, visit the listing.

Item of the Week: Daisy Blazer

Just because it's about to be extremely excruciatingly cold within the next month doesn't mean you can't wear a reminder of the warm, sunny weather that lies ahead. Daisies remind us of spring, summer and warmth, which is why we love this blazer so much! The fit is perfectly oversized, making it the perfect addition to any outfit. A bit hippie with the print, a bit 80s with the fit, what's not to love about this adorable little number?

And did we mention the polka dot lining??!?!?!  Believe me, we're swooning too.

Leathers and Cozy Sweaters......

Fall in NYC is the very best time of year.  No ifs, ands, or bootys about it...the weather is perfect (when it's not raining) and the city, with its endless parks, park benches for reading, sidewalks for strolling, and chai's for drinking while strolling, is THE best.  While it's true that we (Jenna included) wear leather all year 'round, we also die at the chance to finally pair our leathers with oversized knits and flannels.  Here's what we've been wearing every single day.

Wayne's World! Excellent!

After long and intense meditation on what we should be this Halloween, Erica had a brilliant epiphany, Wayne's World! How perfect that idea was being we all have characteristics of these characters, almost scaringly so, not to mention we already function as a "Three's Company" of sorts. Of course, the night would not have been complete without properly documenting! (you know, for our future selfs to hysterically reminisce upon)! So we recreated this famous portrait of Wayne, Cassandra, and Garth! We hope it makes you laugh as hard as we have!

Stolen Girlfriends Club

This Stolen Girlfriends Club dress has to be one of my favorite dresses of all time, although I haven't decided if that's due to the pretty, sequin-dotted lace or the fact that I saved $356 on it! That's right, $356. It was originally $374, but somehow my bargain-hunting ass somehow managed to get it for a mere $18. But anyway, although it's quite spring-ish (which is partly why it was marked down...), the light peachy-pink still works for fall when worn with the right accessories, such as my burgundy floppy felt hat!

I plan on wearing this dress well into the winter! When it does begin to get colder (the impending doom of New York winters...), I'll switch to closed-toe shoes with either plain knee high socks or tights!
